I came across this thread on MetaFilter about occidental swordfighting — rapiers, longswords, and so on. It’s often easy to forget about these styles with flashy offerings like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon coming out of Hong Kong, but apparently, the other styles are still around. I sometimes forget that Western fighting includes more than just fencing.
